Overview of position
The Bell Person represents the hotel to our guests throughout all aspects of their stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites and ensures that the highest standards of hospitality and welcome are demonstrated at all times. The Bell Person is responsible for traffic flowing smoothly through the front driveway and valeting vehicles. The Bell Person also assists guests with luggage, deals with general enquires, and ensures that all guests requests are dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To be present in the lobby/entrance in order to be ready to assist guests, colleagues, and visitors when required
- Ensure collection and delivery of guest luggage in an efficient and timely manner
- Escort guests to room and assist with guest luggage to or from assigned rooms
- Makes deliveries to guest room (eg: flowers, postcards, messages, etc.)
- Ensure safe storage and appropriate ticketing of guest luggage, jackets, and personal items
- Respond to guest requests and queries providing knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful information on the city, the hotel, and hotel amenities
- Provide valet service to guests
- Be familiar with all room types, locations, and room rate promotions available to guests as well as all hotel services
- Help to maintain hotel cleanliness and lot appearance by cleaning driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris as necessary
- Understand how to use all front office equipment
- Arrange for prompt parking in a safe and friendly manner
- Maintain the highest level of customer service and display professionalism at all times
- Display appropriate two-way radio etiquette at all times
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information
- Must have comprehensive understanding of hotel emergency procedures
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirement/Experience:
- Professional attitude and the ability to follow instruction required
- Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines
- Detail oriented and the ability to work independently
- Must speak, understand, and write fluently in English.
- Experience working in a fast-paced Hotel setting is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions year-round
